ION Privacy Policy

Welcome to ION Local Network!

ION Local Network (the “Site” or “ion.com”) is a media platform that helps users publish their content online and via OTT (Over-The-Top) channels, such as streaming services. The platform is operated by ION Local Network, a company based in Hermosa Beach, California (the “Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) for users of the service (“you”). This Privacy Policy sets forth our policy with respect to information that is collected from visitors to the Site and users of our services (collectively, the “Services”). Under applicable law, ION Local Network is the “data controller” of personal data collected through the Services.

We capture information for internal purposes only, to provide, maintain, and improve our Services. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Information We Collect

Data Collection & Purpose:
We collect only the minimum user data required to enable and provide our migration service (users’ Drive folder selection, file IDs, transfer job metadata). We do not collect or use user data for advertising, credit-worthiness, or retargeting. All Google user data is used solely to provide or improve the migration feature.

When you interact with us through the Services, we may collect information from you, as further described below:

Information You Provide

We collect information from you when you voluntarily provide such information, such as when you register for access to the Services, publish content, or use certain features. Information we collect may include but is not limited to your name, email address, username, profile information, content you upload or publish (such as text, images, videos, or other media), and any other details you provide during registration, content submission, or interactions with the platform.

If you sign in using Google OAuth, we may collect information from your Google account, such as your name, email address, and profile picture, solely to authenticate your identity and create or link your account on our platform. This data is handled in compliance with Google’s API Services User Data Policy.

Scope & Access to Google Drive Data
Our app requests the OAuth scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly so that, when you invoke a migration job, we can:

  • List your selected Google Drive folder(s) and all contained files and sub-folders.
  • Read and stream the content of those files for transfer to the destination storage (Cloudflare R2).

We do not modify, delete, or upload any content to your Google Drive unless expressly initiated by you in the reverse-upload scenario. Access is strictly read-only.

Other Information

  • Data We Collect Automatically: When you interact with us through the Services, we receive and store certain information such as your IP address, device type, browser information, unique identifiers, and your activities within the Services (e.g., pages viewed, content published, and interactions). We may store such information or include it in databases owned and maintained by us or our service providers. The Services may use this information to track usage patterns, such as the total number of visitors to our Site, the number of content publications, and referral sources.
  • Aggregated Information: In an ongoing effort to better understand and serve the users of the Services, we may conduct research on our user demographics, interests, and behavior based on the information collected. This research may be compiled and analyzed on an aggregate basis. We do not share aggregated data in a way that identifies individual users.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We employ cookies and similar technologies (e.g., web beacons, pixels) to keep track of your settings, such as login status and preferences. Cookies are pieces of data that sites and services can set on your browser or device that can be read on future visits. We may use cookies to improve user experience, analyze site traffic, and track referrals. You can disable cookies by changing your browser settings, though this may affect the functionality of the Services. Further information about disabling cookies can be found in your browser’s help section.
  • Analytics: We may use third-party analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, that employ cookies to collect information about your use of our Services. These tools help us understand user behavior and improve the platform. You can opt out of Google Analytics by visiting https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for internal purposes only, including:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Services, such as authenticating users, publishing content, and distributing it via online and OTT channels.
  • To improve and personalize the Services, including analyzing usage trends and developing new features.
  • To communicate with you, such as sending service-related emails (e.g., confirmations, updates) or responding to inquiries.
  • To ensure security and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized access.
  • To comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms of Service, or protect our rights, property, or safety, and that of our users.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal effects or similarly significant impacts on you.

Sharing Your Information

We capture and use information for internal purposes only and do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted vendors and service providers who assist us in operating the Services (e.g., hosting providers, analytics services, or OTT distribution partners), under strict confidentiality agreements. These providers are prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, such as in response to a subpoena, court order, or government request, or to protect against legal liability.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, where your data may be transferred as part of the business.
  • With Your Consent: If you explicitly agree to share specific information.

For Google OAuth data, we only use it for authentication and do not share it with any third parties except as necessary for the above purposes and in compliance with Google’s policies.

Data Storage & Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

File contents are not stored permanently on our servers. They are streamed directly through a secure, temporary transfer session from Google Drive our hosting solution. We retain only minimal metadata (for job tracking, resume-capability, error/retry logging). All data in transit is encrypted (TLS/HTTPS). Metadata stored at rest is encrypted and subject to strict access controls.

Your Choices and Rights

You have certain rights regarding your personal data, subject to applicable laws (e.g., California Consumer Privacy Act – CCPA, or General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR, if applicable):

  • Access and Update: You can access and update your account information through your profile settings.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and data by contacting us, though we may retain certain information for legal or operational reasons.  You may cancel any migration job at any time; queued metadata will be purged within 30 days of job completion or cancellation. Refresh tokens or service credentials authorized for your account are revoked upon job completion or when you explicitly de-authorize the app. Backups of metadata are deleted within 90 days of job completion.
  • Opt-Out: You can opt out of non-essential communications or cookies as described above.
  • CCPA Rights (for California Residents): You have the right to know what data we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sales (though we do not sell data). To exercise these rights, contact us at the details below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To exercise any rights, please contact us as outlined in the “Contact Us” section. We may verify your identity before processing requests.

Limited Use Commitment

In compliance with Google’s Limited Use requirements, we commit that Google user data will never be used for:

  • Targeted advertising or interest-based advertising

  • Sale or sharing with data brokers or resellers

  • Credit-worthiness or lending determinations

  • Training of unrelated machine-learning models
We use your data only to deliver the migration service you requested, and to improve that service (error-analytics, performance metrics, bug-fixes).

Security Practices
We follow industry-standard security practices, including:

  • OAuth tokens scoped to the minimum required access and rotated regularly

  • Use of short-lived session credentials for backend transfers

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest (including metadata)

  • Access logs, role-based permission controls, and periodic security audits

  • Least-privilege design: user-initiated job flows only, no background discovery of Drive files beyond the folder you specifically selected.

User Rights & Contact

You may revoke our access to your Google account via your Google Account security settings at any time. If you wish to request deletion of all stored job metadata (excluding data required for compliance or audit), please contact us at privacy@ions.com.   For questions about how we handle your data, or to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, please email us at the same address.

Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware of such collection, we will delete the information. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us immediately.

International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States (Hermosa Beach, California). If you are accessing the Services from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer and processing.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on the Site with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the changes.
