ION UKRAINE – (March 15, 2022) B Corp and impact driven brand Cotopaxi, is driving awareness and raising funds for the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. In alignment with their goal to eradicate global poverty and support major humanitarian and human rights change, Cotopaxi is encouraging people to join in supporting Ukraine refugees through the Cotopaxi Foundation and its partnership with Mercy Corps. Now through April 15, Cotopaxi will match up to $10,000 in consumer and employee donations, allocating 100% of funds raised to the cause.
The humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Ukraine is threatening lives, infrastructure and livelihoods, driving food shortages, and causing significant mass displacement. Almost 3 million people have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict, and it is estimated there could be 4 million Ukrainian refugees in the region if the conflict continues. The crisis is on track to become Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II. Cotopaxi’s foundational purpose as a disruptor of capitalism and proponent of conscious consumerism, is to support the global population and eradicate poverty.
Through the Cotopaxi Foundation, donations will be allocated to Mercy Corps, one of the most recognized global humanitarian organizations helping people recovering from crises. Mercy Corps has team members on the ground in Ukraine, Poland, and Romania, working quickly to understand the evolving needs as they respond. They are currently funding local organizations that know their community needs best and are already working to meet urgent needs, distributing items like medical supplies and food stables as well as supporting marginalized groups like third-country nationals crossing from Ukraine into neighboring countries As their response gets underway, they plan to provide emergency cash assistance and connect people on the move with information, such as where to access basic services, information on safe routes, and legal rights.
