Can I volunteer for The Run? How?

Of course you can! We’re currently looking for volunteers. If you volunteer, you earn some really cool items and are, well, super cool. The Run Volunteer Center is ramping up for year round activity. If you’re bold enough to serve on a State’s Steering Committee, that would be rad. Meanwhile – answer some questions and you’ll be on your way! Click here to answer The Run’s short survey

Is there a participant limit?

Yes. The Run caps the route to each town at 25 participants and in each in-town “Run-off” at 250 for safety. This small setting has been found to be quite enjoyable by most runners- everyone knows everyone by name and generally has a great time! It keeps them low-key & fun!

Does the Run have a time limit?

Are there refunds or transfers?

No refunds, however, you may transfer your entry to another The Run – one time only, only if you let the RD know 72 hours prior. There is a $10 transfer fee.

Is The Run chip timed?

No. There is an official clock with which we keep time, however, it is quite simple for our staff to keep track of each runner as he/she comes in to each town.

Is there an expo/packet pick up?

We will announce soon. Either way, please arrive about 20-30 minutes early to pick up your run bib & to hear additional info about the route.

What will traffic and parking like in the morning of The Run?

Plenty of parking.

Does the route have hills, hazards?

The Run route to San Diego is surprisingly pretty flat. A brief route description is available. Please see individual segment descriptions for each segment and in each state..

Does the course allow headphones, dogs, or strollers?

Headphones are permitted – but use caution. Strollers and dogs are okay. Just remember, you have 100% liability if anything happens.

Is there a gear check?

You can leave all gear at The Run start – or in the Official RV / Chase vehicle, if needed. However, since parking is nearby, leaving items in your car is typically the best idea.

How frequent are aid stations and what is at them?

Aid station locations vary from race to race. See individual race info. You will find ample Gatorade, water, bananas, cookies, chips and other sweet and salty snacks. And there are friendly faces cheering you on!

Are there restrooms along the course?

There are restrooms at or near the start/finish area – and along the way at designated businesses.

What do I get for registering for The Run?

All registrants of The Run receive a super cool commemorative medal and t-shirt. All finishers receive some extra swag. There is plenty of libations and snacks at start of the route, water along the way at Libation Station(s), as well as snacks to be consumed during and after the race. There will be a finisher’s meal at the end of each segment.

Directions to the start of The Run…?

Alongside the beach volleyball courts at Cabrillo Inner Beach – across the parking lot from the famous Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Search for the Cabrillo Beach Boatramp –

If I run the whole 100+ mile route – how do I get home or back to my car?

There is plenty of trains and public transportation – or perhaps a friend or family member can drive accordingly…

Can I start The Run, leave, then come back and finish the segment later?

Once you start a race, you really should not leave the route… other than hitting an aid station.

Can I have friends or relatives run with me without paying for The Run?

No, not cool. They should support the cause, too.

Will The Run happen if it’s raining, sleeting, snowing or hailing?

Yes! All weather conditions accepted.

Can I dress in a costume or wild colored attire?

Please use discretion, group costumes or identification encouraged.
